Art has always been part of who she is
Born in Uruguay and based in Oslo, Norway, contemporary artist Perla Felici began her creative journey in early childhood. From a young age, she was drawn to painting, music, dance, and writing, forms of expression that shaped her sensitivity and imagination. As a child, she spent countless hours painting and participated in art competitions.
Although her academic pursuits later led her in other directions, her connection to art never disappeared. She continued painting occasionally throughout her adult life until around twenty years ago, when she returned to painting with renewed dedication. She subsequently pursued five years of formal art education in Norway, deepening her technical knowledge and developing her personal artistic language.
How she paints
Her work moves between abstract expressionism and figurative art, exploring human emotions, nature, movement, and colour. Her creative process is intuitive and experimental, working mainly with acrylics and building compositions through successive layers of colour and texture.
She also explores watercolour, charcoal, and occasionally oils, using brushes, palette knives, sponges, and sometimes her own hands.
Her distinctive palette features rich blues, turquoise, greens, reds, oranges, and yellows, combined intuitively to create contrast, depth, and emotional resonance.
What she paints about
For Perla, art has always been part of who she is. Painting, music, dance, and writing are languages through which she expresses emotions, experiences, and understanding of the world. When she paints, she allows intuition to guide her; colours, textures, and movements become reflections of feelings that words alone cannot fully capture.
Her paintings are not intended to give answers or tell a single story, but to create moments of recognition and connection. Each work develops its own identity, energy, and voice.
For her, art is freedom, emotion, movement, and transformation — a way of connecting with what makes us human.
